Moderne Frauen / Women's Art Rising

The Albertinum looks back and shows works by important female artists of the period around 1900: paintings, sculptures, drawings and graphic art in the spirit of Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) and Symbolism - from the museum's holdings, the Kupferstich-Kabinett, the Jack Daulton Collection in the USA and private collections. The museum has embarked on a fascinating and ongoing search for traces in its collections and is presenting numerous surprising discoveries and fundamental reassessments. On display are works by Mathilde Ade, Jenny von Bary-Doussin, Marianne Fiedler, Julie Genthe, Marie Gey-Heinze, Hildegard von Mach, Emilie Mediz-Pelikan, Paula Modersohn-Becker, Cornelia Paczka-Wagner, Lilli Wislicenus-Finzelberg and Julie Wolfthorn.
